Below is a step by step guide on how to change the appearance of your Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) desktop into Mac OS X Lion.

1. Open up your terminal and type the below commands to add PPA.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/themes sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install adwaita-cupertino-gtk-theme

2. After installing the main theme, open gtk.css file in Adwaita Cupertino L unity\gtk-3.0 directory and change nautilus option and Unity option.

Nautilus option:

@import url("gnome-applications-light.css");

Unity option:

@import url("unity.css");

3. Open unity.css file and replace its content with the below code and save it.

UnityPanelWidget, .unity-panel { background-image: -gtk-gradient (linear, left top, left bottom, from (rgba(231,231,231,1.0)), to (rgba(214,214,214,1.0))); border-width: 0; border-style: none; } .unity-panel.menubar, .unity-panel .menubar { color: #000000; } .unity-panel.menuitem, .unity-panel .menuitem { border-width: 0; icon-shadow: 0 1 shade (@bg_color, 1.06); }

4. Next we have to install the icon theme. You can do this by installing the modified FaenzaMac icon theme, and then install this secondary theme which contains Mac OS X icons in your icon folder.

5. Download Mac OS X font. Then install it, by typing the command below in the terminal. Note that you have to “cd” or change directory to where you downloaded the font.

tar zxvf macfonts.tar.gz && sudo cp -r macfonts/ /usr/share/fonts/ && sudo fc-cache -f -v

6. Download this Mac cursor theme  and extract it to /usr/share/icons folder.

7. Download Ubuntu Tweak, install it and then change theme and font settings according from below screenshots.

8. Change the font rendering in Ubuntu and make it more like Mac OS X. Just download this “.fonts.conf” file and save it in your home folder.
