Nmap or Network Mapper is a open source, free utility used for network discovery and security checks. The Nmap uses raw IP packets in order to determine what hosts are currently available on the network. Ethical hackers and penetration testers uses Nmap as a security scanner to find open ports and information on a machine particularly the operating system and the ports. Nmap Project just released Nmap 6, a product of almost three years of work, about 3,924 code commits, which includes a more powerful Nmap Scripting engine, 289 new scripts, full IPv6 support, better web scanning, faster scans, Nping pocket prober, and a lot more.
